Pet Portraits by Hilary Twigg

I am happy to undertake commissions to paint dog, cat and horse portraits using acrylic paints.  Acrylic paint is a much younger medium than oils but produces a very similar effect without the lengthy drying time.

Pet portraiture is about much more than reproducing a likeness!  Apart from good photos, I like to know as much as possible about the animal, so that I can capture character and personality as well as the desired image.  Detailed consultation with you begins before we start and is an ongoing process throughout the painting.

As the painting comes ‘alive’ it is a wonderful feeling, and quite an emotional one.
